REPORTING PERIOD
This report covers 04 December 2004 (Orbit 72414, GMT Day 339) through
10 December 2004 (Orbit 72518, GMT Day 345).
SPACECRAFT OPERATION
The observatory is now in Reverse Flight (Northern Hemisphere viewing)
and is performing nominally under two-battery operations. The
instrument operational changes were:
INSTRUMENT OPERATIONAL CHANGES
Instrument Time Orbit Comment
SOLSTICE 340/1256 72436 DAY TO FULL TIME
SUSIM 340/1520 72438 POWER ON
PEM 341/1253 72451 POWER ON
HALOE 342/1250 72466 POWER ON
The beta angle ranged between the angles of 03.9 degrees to 30.4
degrees for this report period. The beta angle is now increasing
towards a maximum angle of 80 degrees on 23 December 2004 (DOY 358).
Spacecraft battery 1, 2, and 3 performance monitoring continues.
Battery 1 remains OFF the charge relay. Battery 2 and Battery 3 are
currently maintaining greater than 23.6 V end-of-night (EON) load bus
voltage. Battery temperatures are stable with a temperature delta
between Battery 2 and Battery 3 of 0.64 to 0.97 degrees C. Additional
battery performance data for each battery on 03 December and 10
December 2004 are provided in Appendix D.
The clock error ranged from 10.8 to -10.1 msec during this report
period. Clock rate adjustments are listed in Appendix C.
All instrument and subsystem engineers were advised on the initial
excursion of ALERTS or Out-Of-Limits conditions detected by the FOT
for this report. A summary is listed below and the details of ALERT
and Out-Of-Limits occurrences are listed in Appendix B.
OUT-OF-LIMITS = 00
ALERTS = 00
The following real-time command sheets were executed for the listed
operational element(s) during this report period (see Appendix A).
FOT = 02
SOLSTICE = 01
SUSIM = 01
PEM = 01
HALOE = 02
UARS Anomaly Reports initiated during this report period are listed in
Appendix E and summarized below.
FOT = 00
Zero (0) Anomaly Reports remained OPEN at the end of this report period
(see Appendix E).
GROUND SYSTEM OPERATION
Zero (0) operational support problems occurred this period. Anomaly
Reports are included in Appendix E.
The data loss calculations are no longer being supplied by Data
Capture Facility (DCF).
OTHER SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
UARS SATELLITE OPERATIONS
This week the file transfer issue between UPS and CMS was resolved.
After checking the FORMAT machine in TRMM and FDF it was found that no
USM products go through either machine. That lead the investigation
into the UPS software. UPS software developers were called in and
during their testing with the FOT found that the software required a
confirmed event in order for the USM to be transferred correctly to
the CMS. Therefore, all future testing will require confirmed events
for CMS to handle them properly. With this obstacle out of the way,
the FOT can now continue their CMS software acceptance testing.
MEETINGS
The FOT attended the UARS Monthly Status review on 07 December 2004 to
report the significant events from the month of November. The FOT was
given the action to write up a report describing the work done on
getting the SMA functionality implemented. That report was written
and sent out on 10 December 2004.
The FOT also attended the biweekly meeting with the HRDI PI team to
discuss the attitude error found in their data. This week the HRDI
team will continue to review the sample data given to them by FDF and
the simulations will continue on the UTTS.
FUTURE SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
The next UARS Yaw slew is scheduled for 12 January 2005 (DOY 012).
This maneuver will be a Reverse to Forward Flight maneuver (Southern
Hemisphere viewing).
