******************************************************************** UARS WEEKLY STATUS REPORT - 14 SEP 2001 ******************************************************************** *********** SOLSTICE *********** SOLSTICE was in day only operations from Sept 11 to Sept 14 in support of the yaw maneuver. Otherwise, SOLSTICE continues to operate normally, taking solar data on all available orbital tracking periods and stellar calibration observations whenever possible. We continue to gather enough data to meet all the SOLSTICE science objectives during this period of reduced tape recorder operations. *********** SUSIM *********** SUSIM has completed its daily solar scans this past week during periods of predicted UARS telemetry. As requested, we are verifying NRT files built on the PACOR-A system versus the CDHF versions. We also expect to review similarly built level 0 files soon. *********** ACRIM *********** Nothing received. *********** PEM *********** Nothing received. *********** HALOE *********** Nothing received. *********** MLS *********** Nothing received. *********** HRDI *********** Nothing received. *********** WINDII *********** Nothing received. *********** MPG *********** The MPG attended the UARS Science Meeting held on September 11, 12, and 13, 2001. Daily processing of instrument Daily Activity Plans continues with no problems. *********** CDHF *********** Nothing received. *********** FOT *********** REPORTING PERIOD This report covers 01 September 2001 (Orbit 54526, GMT Day 244) through 07 September 2001 (Orbit 54630, GMT Day 250). SPACECRAFT OPERATION The observatory is now in Reverse Flight (Northern Hemisphere viewing) and is performing nominally under two-battery operations. The instrument operational changes were: INSTRUMENT OPERATIONAL CHANGES Instrument Time Orbit Comment HALOE 250/2317 54630 Power OFF The beta angle ranged between the angles of 37.0 degrees to 17.6 degrees for this report period. The beta angle is now decreasing towards a minimum angle of 0 degrees on 11 September 2001 (DOY 254). Spacecraft battery 1, 2, and 3 performance monitoring continues. Battery 1 remains OFF the charge relay. Battery 2 and Battery 3 are currently maintaining greater than 23.8 V end-of-night (EON) load bus voltage. Battery temperatures are stable with a temperature delta between Battery 2 and Battery 3 of 1.2 to 1.3 degrees C. Additional battery performance data for each battery on 31 August 2001 and 7 September 2001 are provided in Appendix D. The clock error ranged from Ð13.5 to 10.4 msec during this report period. Clock rate adjustments are listed in Appendix C. All instrument and subsystem engineers were advised on the initial excursion of ALERTS or Out-Of-Limits conditions detected by the FOT for this report. A summary is listed below and the details of ALERT and Out-Of-Limits occurrences are listed in Appendix B. ¥ OUT-OF-LIMITS = 00 ¥ ALERTS = 00 The following real-time command sheets were executed for the listed operational element(s) during this report period (see Appendix A). ¥ FOT = 24 ¥ HALOE = 01 ¥ HRDI = 01 UARS Anomaly Reports initiated during this report period are listed in Appendix E and summarized below. ¥ FOT f this report period (see Appendix E). TRANSPONDER FREQUENCIES: · Transponder A: 00/316 - 2287.496493 · Transponder B: 01/243 - 2287.499091 GROUND SYSTEM OPERATION Two (2) operational support problems occurred this period. Anomaly Reports are included in Appendix E. The data loss calculations supplied by Data Capture Facility (DCF) from mission start through UTC Day 01/249 show the observatory data loss to be 303 hours, 09 minutes, 13.504 seconds. This shows no loss since the last report period. This is a 0.39 percent data loss, which equals a 99.61 percent data capture for the mission. OTHER SIGNIFICANT EVENTS UARS SATELLITE OPERATIONS The 3-minute calibration burn was executed on the 249/1302 event of 06 September 2001. All systems performed nominally and the FOT and FDF now have a good handle on the duty cycle and efficiency of the thrusters. The predicted duty cycle very accurately matched the value received, therefore all planning aids modeled the burn very well. All of the test burns have been executed without incident and there are no plans at the present time for any more test burns. The FOT would like to thank FDF and all other support groups in making these test burns so smooth and painless. MEETINGS The UARS FOT attended a UARS CAM (Calibration Burn) on Monday, September 04, 2001. The UARS FOT attended a UARS Monthly Status Meeting on Wednesday, September 05, 2001. The UARS FOT attended a UARS Go-NoGo (Calibration Burn) on Thursday, September 06, 2001. The UARS FOT attended a UARS Technical Team Meeting on Thursday, August 30, 2001. FUTURE SIGNIFICANT EVENTS The next UARS Yaw slew is scheduled for 11 September 2001 (DOY 254). This maneuver will be a Reverse to Forward Flight maneuver (Southern Hemisphere viewing).
